History of 06C
I've been working on a number of different projects recently, and have had numerous people give me interesting pictures, charts, directories etc. on our airport, and I have even had a meeting with Brian Simmons in the Transportation Department of the Village of Schaumburg. By clicking on the hyperlink above, (providing you have the ability to view this in Microsoft "Word" format) you should see what I have compiled so far in regard to the history of Roselle/Schaumburg Airport. The Village of Schaumburg is now also working on a historical project for their web site.
ON ANOTHER NOTE...
If you haven't been to the airport recently, please stop by the Schaumburg Pilots Display case located downstairs in the Pilots Lounge and let me know what you think. It looks to me like the case has legs and walked over from the West side wall to the East side wall by the vending machines, but that's OK. It seems like a better location. I have gathered and scanned a number of photos from different members and went over to Jewel to print the photos out. The original photos belong to Jerry Krug, Steve Haupert, Tim Coltrin, and Sean Kline. The maps were purchased by myself and the Illinois Airport Directories were given to me by Hill Mayer.
This is still a work in progress. Dennis and I will be adding and removing items from the case from time to time. So, if you have any items that you would like to show that might pertain to the pre 1995 era, please see Dennis or myself at the September Pilots meeting. We have a couple more surprises too.
Also, if you have any ideas on how to improve our display case please let us know. There's always room for improvement. Randy
