For all of you working on home built aircraft, Jessie James is working on a unique concept.  I wonder what the average number of hours is for building an aircraft by hand?  Maybe someone will find out this weekend at Oshkosh.  Below is part of an article from CBS News.

Monster Garage showcases everyday mechanics as more than guys who can turn a wrench. "If we do something that's totally easy, and I know we can do it, it's a boring show," says James, who's building a
flying car for the season finale.

"We're gonna do a Jaguar, like a new XI, the all-aluminum, because they're light, and make it fly," says James. "Like 1926 Popular Mechanics said the year 2000, we're supposed to have flying cars. And no one did it yet. So I'm gonna do it in five days."

This is the event that we have been talking about at the last two Schaumburg Pilots Association meetings. Jerry McWhorter has a large motor home that he will be piloting to the Oshkosh museum. On the way up to Osh, the group will stop for breakfast. For those of you who are going with us, please plan spending the day. This will be an event that I'm quite sure everyone will be talking about for the rest of the year!
Since there are only 9 seats in the motor home, we are looking for a commitment from those of you who are interested in going for the ride. Please RSVP by calling me on my cell phone NO LATER THAN Wednesday February 23, 2005. Only call if you are serious about going, we don't want to waste any seats!
If you have a large vehicle and/or are interested in driving up with the group, please let me know. We will probably need more vehicles for the anticipated crowd.
Also, if you are planning on flying up, let me know so we all can rendezvous. I will find out if there is a shuttle bus to take you from the airport to the museum.
If you do decide to go with Jerry, plan on chipping in for Jerry's gas he'll appreciate it.

Too Heavy
Three Hunters chartered a local bush pilot to fly them for a hunting weekend. Upon returning on Sunday afternoon the young pilot noticed additional cargo waiting for him. Camping gear, rifles, three large grinning hunters and each toting a deer from their weekend spoils.
The pilot quickly explained the small aircraft was already going to be overweight and that one of the deer were going to have to be left behind. The hunters protested dismissing the importance of being overweight and said " Last year we loaded all of this stuff and the deer!"
The pilot, not to be outdone, caved to the excess load. The poor aircraft bumped and wheezed down the short grass strip and inevitably ended pranging the bushes at the end. Picking weeds off himself, the pilot asked the hunters:" are you sure you guys carried all this stuff out last year?"
The largest of the hunters replied "Oh yes we did, but last year we crashed over there!"
