Well, we've done it. As you know we have been trying to find certain pieces of history related to this airport. Do you remember a cute K-9 at Schaumburg airport that was part of the airport security back in the 1990's? Seems the cute pooch has a some real meaning to us here at 06C...see, the dogs' name was Runway.
Runway's Review (our newsletter) is named after this friendly brown haired (*should we call her a dog?) pooch. Runway, the pilot's best friend could be found at the airport and by the looks of it was a great addition to the staff.
Sean Kline has some very interesting pictures that he has generously allowed us to scan for our web site including the pictures on the right. To see additional pictures please click here. He also has some extremely unique history here at Schaumburg airport. Sean is the Grandson of Gene Bouska the previous owner of our airport before the village acquired it. Perhaps you've seen the tribute in the pilots lounge dedicated to Gene. "It was because of Gene's continued efforts to keep this airport open, growing, and prosperous, that we have the fine airport as we know it today". (From the plaque in the pilot's lounge)
Just like his Grandfather, Sean also has aviation in his blood and is currently working on his Commercial rating. Sean came to our February pilot's meeting and when ask to introduce himself very modestly mentioned his name. Not every one realized who he was until Dennis Spiegel asked him to tell the crowd "who he really was" it was at that point that he said he was the Grandson of Gene Bouska. We're extremely proud to have Sean in the Schaumburg Pilot's Association and wish him luck and success with his future aviation plans wherever they may take him. Thank you to the family for sharing their photos and their history with us.
