BIG PLANS IN THE WORKS.
Well the Poplar Grove Engine Shop did a great job explaining the ins and outs of aircraft engine overhauls.  THE PARTS THEY BROUGHT TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THE FAILURES REALLY SHOWED WHAT could happen if the circumstances were ripe.  We had a great Q and A and I'm sure everyone left learning something, Since this meeting qualified for the Wings program Bill Coons, Kieth Kalmpert, and I signed a bunch of Wings cards.  My thanx to the great guys from Poplar Grove, Steve and Dave!  BTW they will give you a tour of the shop if you ask.

The weekend after the the meeting we had our first Fly out which landed us at Rochester Indiana for a terrific all you could eat Fried Chicken, Meat loaf, and all the fixin's -- We had TEN SPA members come And the Pres and VP of DuPage showed up and a couple of Ercoupers from other states managed to land there too!  I think we ate a ton of food the take off roll in our 172 seemed a bit longer than usual.
We are going to change the next Flyout and others to Sunday following the SPA Meetings as requested by several SPA Members.  Again following our monthly meeting.  We have been asked to repeat our HO-CHUNK CASINO Flyout.  So back by popular demand Sunday MAY 16th HO-CHUNK Fly, Gamble, Gamble, Fly, in whatever order.  Sign up at our next meeting.

NOW for the good stuff... Drum roll please...  Our First PIG ROAST and SHISH-KABOB shindig at 06C Sunday June 13th We will have it jointly with the DUPAGE PILOTS ASSOCIATION.  This will be an AWESOME event.  We will need help so please volunteer.  If you have a favorite side dish bring it to pass around.  Lets hope for severe clear!
BTW contributions prior and during the event are WELCOME.

Over the last weekend I had the opportunity to visit the EAA restoration site of a very nice Taylorcraft and Ron Liebmann's Kitfox.  This is truly a labor of love.  I recommend a visit to help out these guys.  They are really skilled.  This is a historic site and set up nicely.  Thanx to them for the fun I had, I even had the opportunity to build an R/C model for Rob Strickland of the DuPage Pilots Association.

Bill Coons and I are planning a flight to the Mississippi River and down South along it, kind of an overnighter.  We want to visit neat places along the Mississippi and maybe do some fishin' who knows.  Anyone want to tag along, let us know.  Fer now that's All She Wrote.......Den

P.S. SPA short sleeve golf shirts with or without pockets in Gray or Blue are now available.  SPA hats are available too!
